Cherries and a Fire Truck

The red cherries, like agates, were crammed into the entire refrigerated truck. Old Wang drove carefully; the cherries were freshly picked from the port by his boss. Each crate was worth several thousand, and if they arrived late, their value would drop. He glanced in the rearview mirror, a red fire truck flashing its lights and emitting piercing sirens, closely tailing him.

Old Wang frowned, muttering, "Who's on fire again? What bad luck." He looked left and right, the road was narrow and full of cars, making it difficult to yield. Besides, who knows if some "drunk" was causing trouble again? There were news reports about people deliberately honking to scare others. Old Wang decided to wait a bit; what if it wasn't real?

The fire truck behind was getting desperate, its sirens getting louder, as if urging for death. Old Wang was more annoyed; this fire truck was too unreasonable. Why can't it just make a way? He looked at the cherries in his truck, then at the traffic ahead, thinking, if he yielded, these cherries would get crushed, and his boss would definitely kill him.

The fire truck finally reached its breaking point. With a sudden brake, it stopped beside the truck. Firefighters jumped out and rushed to Old Wang's driver's side, banging on the window: "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear the siren? Move aside!"

Old Wang lowered his window, unhurriedly pointing at the cherries on his truck, and calmly said, "Brother, look, my truck is full of treasures. If they get crushed, who'll compensate me? Besides, how do I know if your siren is real? In these times, better safe than sorry."

The firefighter was stunned. He pointed to the billowing black smoke in the distance, roaring, "There's a fire over there, can't you see? People's lives are at stake!"

Old Wang shrugged, looking helpless: "Brother, people's lives are at stake, but these cherries are also related to my family's livelihood! Besides, look at this traffic jam; how am I supposed to yield? Don't you fire trucks have helicopters? Why not use a helicopter to fight the fire? Frankly, your fire system is just backward, what's it got to do with me?"

The firefighter was completely broken. He trembled with anger, pointing at Old Wang, unable to speak. He could only helplessly return to his truck, and the convoy could only follow the truck slowly.

Just then, Old Wang’s phone rang, it was his boss, his tone urgent: "Old Wang, what’s going on? Why isn't the truck here yet? The customer is getting impatient! If you’re any later, the cherries will be stale!”

Old Wang drove while smiling and responding, "Boss, don't worry, I'm on my way. There's a bit of a traffic jam, but I'll be there soon!"

When he finally drove slowly to the customer's building, he saw the building engulfed in flames, fire trucks trying their best to put out the fire, and several firefighters rescuing the injured downstairs.

Old Wang parked his truck, looking at everything in front of him, stunned. He pulled out his phone and saw a pop-up message, with a bold headline: "Due to blocked fire access, a serious fire broke out in a residential complex, causing heavy losses."

He opened his phone and saw some chat history from the owner's group, all wailing, all cursing. He scrolled through the group nicknames and saw a familiar ID, with a note: “Cherry Zhang Boss.” Old Wang's hand trembled, and his phone fell to the ground.
